He is a past Chairperson of the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia. Stephen also serves on the IIA International Relations Committee, is a Board Observer at the Global Audit Committee Centre, and is a member of the IIA Global Vision 2035 Committee.

Stephen has more than 25 years of experience as a governance, risk, and audit professional. He currently serves as Director, Internal Audit and Risk Assurance at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, supporting an organization that delivers life-saving blood and plasma products and leads research and expertise in diagnostics, clinical services, transplantation, and immunogenetics.

Stephen has extensive experience in risk management and internal audit, working closely with Boards and Audit Committees across national and multinational organizations. His diverse career includes senior leadership roles such as:

• Chief Risk and Assurance Officer, Mercy Health

• National Manager, Business Transformation Systems, Mercy Health

• Interim Chief Executive, Mercy Health

• Global Vice President, Assurance, BHP Billiton

• Head of Internal Audit, South African Breweries

 

Stephen is an active and longstanding contributor to the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) at both regional and global levels. His roles include:

• Member, IIA International Relations Committee

• Board Observer, Global Audit Committee Centre

• Member, Vision 2035 Committee (IIA Global, Orlando)

• Executive Member, Asian Confederation of Internal Auditors

• Director and Past Chair, Institute of Internal Auditors Australia

 

He is also a regular presenter and contributor to risk, governance, and control forums, sharing practical insights drawn from his extensive leadership and assurance experience.
